Documented in written sources as early as 1372, Dotnuva is an important historical site in Lithuania. From the 16th century, when the manor was established, through the 20th century, when it became a cradle of agricultural education, Dotnuva has been and remains a center of culture and science. In 1867, the manor was acquired by Count Shuvalov, and in the mid-19th century, a geometric plan park was established here, which grew into one of the richest dendrological parks in Lithuania.
In 1919, an Agricultural and Forestry school was established in the manor's palaces, which became the Agricultural Academy in 1924. The academy was later moved to Kaunas in 1947, but Dotnuva remained a symbol of agricultural education, and the manor
itself became known as the Academy.
One of the most prominent symbols of this place is a monument dedicated to the 1923 march by students and teachers of the Dotnuva Agricultural School to lead Klaipėda. This history is symbolically immortalized in a 5-ton stone monument, which local riflemen transported from a stream bed over three days using special rails. The front of the monument features a riflemen's shield and an inscription about Klaipėda, symbolizing national revival and the struggle for Independence.
Today, Dotnuva Manor Park and the monument are not only historical sites but also the active center of the local community's activities, gathering annually to celebrate National Days and other significant holidays.
