In 1635, thanks to the initiative of the nobleman Petras Šiukšta, the construction of a masonry church began, replacing an earlier wooden one. Between 1902 and 1919, the church was renovated, maintaining its structure to this day. The St. Apostles Peter and Paul Church in Apytalaukis is characterized by Baroque architecture with Renaissance elements. It is built on a Latin cross plan and features a bell tower on the western side. Inside, the church is adorned with cylindrical vaults. Descendants of the Apytalaukis landowners, the Šiukšta and Zabiela families, rest in the parish cemetery adjacent to the church and in the sanctuary's crypts.
