Due to the damming of the Šušvė River and the formation of the Angiriai Reservoir, one of the hillforts in our region has been partially eroded and is now relatively neglected. Its slopes are overgrown with trees, and the platform has eroded. Archaeological findings discovered 1 km north of the hillfort indicate the existence of an ancient settlement where smooth-surfaced handmade pottery was found. During the interwar period, the hillfort was nicknamed Bakanas due to its shape. The history of the hillfort dates back to the 1st millennium BC–early 2nd millennium AD.
