On December 18, 1950, during a military Chekist operation in the alders of Vincas Draždžiulis' farm in Strumbagalvės village, two partisans from the Dainava District's Šarūnas Battalion, representing the Mindaugas family, were killed: Gediminas Surdokas, known as Vairas, and Vytautas Griškonis, nicknamed Žynys.
Earlier, on March 17, 1945, in the Muckaus homestead located in Strumbagalvės village, soldiers of the NKVD's 94th Border Detachment and NKVD stribai from the Rudamina subunit of Seinas County discovered a group of partisans. During this confrontation, 12 partisans were killed, including Leonas Kliukinskas (Levas), Antanas Miknevičius, Jurgis Misiukevičius, Viktoras Trečiokas (Liūtas), Jonas Zimnickas, and the owner of the homestead, Jonas Muckus. The partisans were honored in Lazdijai, and after Lithuania regained its independence, their remains were transferred to Lazdijai Cemetery, where their memory can now be honored.
