In 2008, a monument was unveiled in the Būdvičius region to honor those who suffered during the occupations of Lithuania from 1795 to 1918 and from 1940 to 1981. This monument pays tribute to the book smugglers, political prisoners, exiles, and partisans who fought for Lithuania's freedom. The initiative for the monument's construction was led by Benjaminas Kaluškevičius, with support from the Kaluškevičius and Bansevičius families.

Next to the monument, in the former home of book smuggler Jonas Kaluškevičius, now bearing the name T. Jotautienė, a memorial room has been established. This site not only enhances the beauty of the Būdvičius region but has also become an important cultural and historical landmark, attracting tourists interested in Lithuania's history and its struggles for freedom.
