Old Jewish Cemetery of Lazdijai

The cemetery, located in the northern part of the town, is situated 65–75 meters west of the Lazdija River, on a low hill. This historical cemetery area is enclosed, and a remaining section of the brick wall with a gate allows visitors to explore this important site. Burials took place here until September 1941, when the Jewish community of Lazdijai was destroyed in the village of Katkiškės, along with other Jews from the Lazdijai district. This site not only serves as a reminder of the rich Jewish culture but also reflects a painful history that should be known to all those interested in Lithuania's cultural heritage and historical tourism.
