Motiejus Gustaitis (1870–1927) was a renowned priest, poet, and educator born in Rokai. After graduating from the Sejny Theological Seminary, he studied in Germany, Italy, and Switzerland, where, in 1903, he defended his doctoral dissertation on Adam Mickiewicz. He was one of the founders of the "Žiburys" Society and served as the director of the Marijampolė Girls' Progymnasium. During World War I, he evacuated the school to Russia, and upon his return, he became the head of the Sejny "Žiburys" Gymnasium, which was later moved to Lazdijai. The Lazdijai Gymnasium and one of the town’s streets are named after him. A memorial museum in Lazdijai preserves unique documents, letters, and personal photographs in his honor.

Motiejus Gustaitis (1870–1927) was a Roman Catholic clergyman, poet, educator, and literary scholar, born in Rokai, Marijampolė County. Motiejus completed his studies at the Sejny Theological Seminary and served as a priest in Marijampolė. He continued his education in Germany, Italy, and Switzerland, studying subjects from church music to canon law and literary history. In 1903, he defended his dissertation on the works of Adam Mickiewicz. Gustaitis contributed to founding the "Žiburys" Society and
became the director of the Marijampolė Girls' Progymnasium. During World War I, he took refuge in Russia, returning to Lithuania in 1918 to lead the Sejny "Žiburys" Gymnasium, which was later relocated to Lazdijai. Under his leadership, the gymnasium acquired a building, and dormitories and a canteen were established for students. In 1995, Lazdijai Gymnasium and a street in the town were named after M. Gustaitis. A memorial museum in Lazdijai preserves his personal documents, letters, and literary works.
