Battlefield of Lithuanian Partisans (Delnica Village)

On December 24, 1948, a battle occurred at the estate of Petras Janulevičius in the Lazdijai district against MGB forces. During these clashes, partisans from the Dainava district's Šarūnas battalion, specifically the Mindaugas group, lost their lives: Bronius Aleksandravičius (Vijurkas), Juozas Griškonis (Aušra), Jonas Janulevičius (Šaulys), Danius Sakalauskas (Žaibas), and Alfonsas Šikarskas (Ąžuolynas). According to testimonies from local residents, their bodies were transported to Lazdijai and later taken to the shores of Lake Salinys, where they were buried under the ice. A monument now stands at this site to honor the fallen.
