In May 1947, during clashes with the Soviet army, partisans from the Dainava district's Šarūnas battalion, Petras Kasikevičius, known by the alias Vilimas (born in 1918), and Jurgis Vengrauskas, known as Jovaras (born in 1927), were killed fighting for Lithuania's freedom. These heroes demonstrated courage and dedication in defending their homeland against the occupiers.
