On March 17, 1945, in Strumbagalvė village, Rudamina parish, Lazdijai district, a group of partisans was discovered by the NKVD army and local security forces at the Muckaus homestead. During the confrontation, various sources report that between 5 and 12 partisans from the Šarūnas battalion, part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania under Mindaugas, lost their lives. Among the known casualties were the squad leader Leonas Kliukinskas, also known as Levas, from Mockava village, Antanas Miknevičius, Jurgis Misiukevičius from Rūdninkai village, Viktor Trečiokas, nicknamed Liūtas, a former policeman, and Jonas Zimnickas. Their bodies were desecrated in Lazdijai, and after the restoration of Lithuania's independence, their remains were transferred to the cemetery.
