Lauko Soda is a historic location in the Telšiai district, home to an impressive wooden church. Until 1842, Lauko Soda belonged to the Žemaitija Diocese Chapter, and in 1787, the Canons of Varniai built the first wooden church. The current wooden church was built in 1889 and belonged to the Žarėnai parish until 1936. From 1965, Juozapas Gasiūnas (1901–1989) served as the parish priest in Lauko Soda, who, during World War II, saved several Jewish families.
The church is rectangular in plan, with a tower and two attached sacristies. The churchyard is enclosed by a stone masonry fence, and within it stands a two-story wooden bell tower. Lauko Soda is a great destination for both religious and cultural tourism, offering unique historical and architectural landmarks.
