The boulders in this region were transported by glaciers from the Åland Islands and southwestern Finland. They cover the steep slope of a hill, which rises about 30 meters high. This boulder field is notable in Lithuania because the boulders have protected the hillside from erosion and destruction. According to local legends, this boulder field is known as "Stone Mountain." Such unique boulder fields have not been found elsewhere in Lithuania, and natural boulder fields are very rare in Dzūkija, with many having been significantly damaged.
