On November 11, 1863, in the forest of Kuolgirys, between Kiaulėdžiai and Daršiškiai, a detachment of Russian soldiers led by Lieutenant Colonel Karpov, along with 20 Cossacks, attacked a group of rebels led by Eliziejaus Liutkevičius. The group consisted of 92 men. In the battle, 57 rebels were killed, and they were later buried near Daršiškiai.
