The masonry parish church of Aukštadvaris, belonging to the Dominicans, was closed after the uprising in 1832. Services were held in a small cemetery chapel, which was later transferred to the Orthodox and burned down in 1881. In the early 20th century, the residents of Aukštadvaris decided to rebuild their parish and construct a new church. The estate owner Bronislovas Malevskis allocated a plot for the church's construction, and the wooden church project by architect Antanas Filipovičius-Dubovikas was approved in 1907. Initially, a temporary chapel was built, and the construction of the new church took place between 1910 and 1913. The church building suffered damage during World War I, and the Second World War brought further destruction.

plan including two towers and two sacristies. The towers are adorned with pediments featuring sun motifs and roofs with crosses. Inside, the church is divided into three naves, adorned with four altars. The main altar is decorated with Stanislovas Gobiatas' painting "The Transfiguration of Christ", and other altars in historicist style were transferred from the old Dominican Church of St. Dominic. The church interior is richly decorated with paintings, including works by prominent Lithuanian artists. It is a unique historical monument enriched with cultural and religious significance, attracting the attention of many cultural and historical tourists.
