In 1526, Vaitiekus Goštautas built a wooden parish church in Senas Daugėliškis (3 km south of Naujas Daugėliškis). A new church was built in 1600 and rebuilt in 1812. The church was struck by lightning and burned down in 1886. In 1889, thanks to the efforts of Father Jonas Burba, the Church of St. Joachim and St. Anne was rebuilt in Naujas Daugėliškis. The church is a cultural monument, housing three easel paintings ("St. Francis of Assisi," "The Holy Family," "St. Anne") and a chalice (made of brass, embossed, plated, and gilded, created in 1738).
