Monument to Vytautas the Great in Veliuona

In 1930, to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of Grand Duke Vytautas of Lithuania, a monument (author Apolinaras Šimkūnas) was erected in the center of Veliuona. During the Soviet occupation, there were attempts to demolish the monument, but thanks to the resistance of the people of Veliuona, the monument has survived to this day.
