For human economic needs, the first mill dam appeared on the stream as early as the 16th century. Later, the number of dams increased to four, and currently, there are two. The dams disrupted the natural migration routes of fish, impoverishing the stream's fauna. The main goal of the fish ladder is to restore the salmonid fish populations in the Viešvilė River by reestablishing their migration route to spawning grounds. The park near the fish ladder has become a recreational area for locals and visitors.
