Bačkonys Manor Park

At the turn of the 19th-20th century, the manor belonged to the Tatar family Bazarevskiai. A stream, a tributary of the Strėva River, flowed through the park. This stream was dammed to create a system of ponds where crayfish were raised. The ponds still exist today.
Beyond the ponds was a large forest, and from the hill, one could enjoy an extraordinarily beautiful landscape. It is noteworthy that the manor house had running clean water and even electricity, which was rare at the time. The entire manor composition has survived to this day, although the residential house is now a restaurant. In the depths of the park, in a small forest, there are family graves. Most of the tombstones are broken, with only one intact typical Tatar-Muslim tombstone of Juzef Bazarevskis, who died in 1936. It remains in good condition with its inscriptions still legible.
