The fountain in Ignalina’s Laisvės Square captivates visitors both in summer and winter. In summer, it delights with water sprays, while in winter, it transforms into a festive display. Designed in 2006 by local sculptor Jonas Grunda, the fountain has become a notable feature of the town.
The fountain’s sculpture consists of stone blocks arranged in a dynamic rhythm, resembling water lily leaves. The spaces between the blocks create a sense of lightness and transparency in the composition. At the top, a white marble detail symbolizes either a water lily bud or the legendary love of Ignas and Lina.
In 2019, the fountain received a new feature: the marble lily bud was transformed into a flower. This change further emphasizes the water lily motif, which is also a central element of Ignalina’s coat of arms.
