Darsūniškis St. Casimir's Gate

It is claimed that St. Casimir's Gate was built between 1791 and 1794 when the town enjoyed Magdeburg rights for four years. These rights laid the foundation for municipal self-governance, granted various privileges, and exempted townspeople from many obligations.
The gate stands on the road from Darsūniškis to Sekionys, at the town's border on the Sekionys side. During the Soviet era, in 1963, it was demolished but was rebuilt during the Rebirth period in 1990. Although the gate was rebuilt beside the road during the Rebirth, many travelers still strive to pass through it. The tradition of visiting and commemorating it with a procession has been revived: St. Casimir is visited and remembered on March 4th.
