The raised bog “Bear’s Bottom” is one of the most fascinating places in Dzūkija National Park, known not only for its unique name but also for its remarkable nature. It is a typical raised bog where rare plant species grow: cranberries, wild rosemary, sundews – insect-eating plants. Here you can also find white cotton grass, lingonberries, mosses, while the bog teems with insects and birds. According to local stories, the unusual name came from the bog’s shape – from above, it resembles a bear. “Bear’s Bottom” is an excellent place for those wishing to explore the bog ecosystem of Dzūkija, feel the spirit of the wild, and see rare flora. It is one of the most visited sites on the educational trail, offering both educational and recreational experiences.
