German Army Bunker near Kegums HPP

On the left bank of the Daugava River, about 250 m east of a stream near Lejasgrantini, stands a well-preserved German Army concrete firing point from World War I. Located on the slope of the Kegums Hydropower Plant, it can be reached from the Jaunjelgava–Kegums road (P85) along the riverbank. In summer, dense vegetation hides it, but it can be spotted from the water. Moss-covered concrete walls and remaining metal and wooden structures are visible inside. Waves have eroded the bank, making access dangerous, with a deep crater nearby. This is the eighth fortification point in the German defensive line along the left bank of the Daugava.
