The Strenči Bridge over the Gauja River is Latvia’s second oldest reinforced concrete bridge, notable for having three types of surface: wood, asphalt, and paving stones. Built before 1920, it was damaged during the Latvian War of Independence and again in the 1929 Gauja floods. Near the bridge, along the Gauja Nature Trail, are preserved 1919 trenches where Estonian troops fought the Red Army. This site combines military heritage with nature, offering rest areas with benches, tables, and fire pits.
