Alytus Hillfort

Alytus Hillfort is the oldest historical monument in the city, dating back to the mid-1st millennium to the 14th century. A castle once stood on the hillfort, first mentioned in 1384, and was ravaged by the Teutonic Knights. According to legend, the name of the area comes from the love story of Alytas and Mirgrauselė, symbolized by the nearby Alytupis stream. Next to the hillfort, you’ll find relaxation zones, walking paths, sculptures, and a breathtaking view featuring the tallest pedestrian bridge in Lithuania – the White Rose Bridge.
