The Church of the Guardian Angels in Alytus, built in 1830, stands on the site of the former Chapel of St. Anne. Its neo-Baroque interior is ornate and valuable, and the church has been the beginning of many love stories. In the nearby cemetery lie 114 volunteers, including officer A. Juozapavičius, rifleman J. Bloznelis, and formerly also M. K. Čiurlionis’s mother, Adele. Visiting outside of Mass hours is recommended only with prior arrangement with the parish priest.
