In Tahkuranna, near the birthplace of Konstantin Päts, stands a memorial dedicated to him – one of the most important historical landmarks in Estonia. Päts was the first President of Estonia (1938–1940), a founding figure of the nation, and a symbol of independence. A statue in his honor was unveiled in 1939, designed by renowned architect Olev Siinmaa. It was destroyed in 1940 but restored in 1989 thanks to the work of sculptors Andres Mänd and Mati Karmin. This site is a significant place to visit, telling the story of Estonia’s struggle for freedom.
