Memorial to the Soldiers Fallen in the War of Independence in Kõpu, Viljandi County

In the town of Kõpu, Viljandi County, stands a memorial dedicated to 22 soldiers who fell in Estonia’s War of Independence. The monument was first unveiled in 1933 but was destroyed by the Soviet army in 1941. A surviving part of the original memorial is preserved in the garden of Kõpu Church. The rebuilt monument was solemnly reopened in 1989 next to Kõpu Peetri Lutheran Church. This site serves as an important place of remembrance, honoring the fight for freedom and holding historical significance in the Viljandi region.
