At the Pärnu intercity bus station, visitors are greeted by a surprising sight – a historic locomotive and flatbed wagon placed on the site of the former railway station. This monument to the narrow-gauge railway, marking the 110th anniversary of the Pärnu–Valga line, was established in 2006. It features a locomotive manufactured in 1911 in Germany by O. & Koppel and a wagon built in 1913 in Saint Petersburg. Although the city’s central station was closed in 1972, this location remains a significant part of Pärnu’s railway history. To learn more about the narrow-gauge railway, visit the Lavassaare Railway Museum.
