Memorial Stone for St. Nicholas Church

Near the town hall, beneath old oak trees, stands a memorial stone marking the site where St. Nicholas Church once stood. This Gothic sanctuary, built in the 13th–14th centuries, was a significant spiritual and architectural center in Pärnu. It was heavily damaged in 1944 and demolished in 1954 during the construction of the Soviet-era Lenin Boulevard (now Pika Street).
The stone, featuring the outline of the former church, was erected by Baltic Germans living in Germany. It is a cultural heritage site that commemorates the city’s past and invites reflection on lost historical landmarks.
