The Anton Austrin Memorial Museum "Kaikaši" was established in 1990 at the writer’s birthplace in Vecpiebalga Parish. The museum presents the life and literary work of one of Latvia’s most prominent writers. It also features a unique collection of sun symbols curated by his daughter, cultural figure Mudīte Austrin. The village of Kaikaši, where traces of six farmsteads remain, reflects the traditional way of life in the Vecpiebalga region—farmers, merchants, fishermen, and craftsmen. The story of one family here mirrors the fate of an entire nation—deportation, resurgence, turning points, and hope. All of it is wrapped in a spiritual light—the sun, which Austrin described as a symbol of the joy of life.
