The Johann Voldemar Jannsen sculpture on Rüütli Street is a symbol of the city's vitality, commemorating the founder of Estonian journalism. The bronze figure of Jannsen stands with a newspaper in hand, as if pausing to glance at the windows of Pärnu Postimees. The sculpture was created to mark the 150th anniversary of Perno Postimees. Legend says that if you touch the page of the newspaper in his hand, good news will follow. It’s not only a cultural highlight but also a popular attraction for visitors to the city.
