The Beaver Nature Trail is one of the most fascinating routes in Soomaa National Park, offering a chance to explore Estonia’s wetlands, forests, and wildlife. The trail starts near the visitor center and is easily accessible by car year-round, although parts of it may be flooded during high water periods. The wooden boardwalk winds through various forest landscapes—from dark spruce woods to bright birch groves and boggy wetlands—leading to the Mardu Stream, home to a beaver colony. Here, visitors can observe beaver dams and signs of their activity. Along the trail, information boards introduce the local flora, fauna, and ecosystems. It’s an excellent destination for eco-tourism, family outings, and nature education.
