Klaipėda Castle is a historic fortress with a history spanning over 700 years. Founded in 1252 at a strategically important location by the Curonian Lagoon, this castle served as a stronghold for the Livonian Order in its battles against the Baltic tribes. For centuries, Klaipėda Castle was continuously attacked and rebuilt, and by the 14th–15th centuries, it had become a powerful defensive structure with four towers, a defensive wall, and bastions. Later, it came under the control of the Duchy of Prussia, and in the 17th century, it was transformed into a Dutch-style fortress. Although the castle was destroyed at the end of the 19th century, fragments of its defensive walls remain on the site. Today, the location of Klaipėda Castle is a historical landmark where events and tours take place, attracting both locals and tourists.
