Baliuliai Hillfort (Pabradė Eldership)

This hillfort, situated on a highland promontory near the right bank valley of the Mera River, is a remarkable historical witness, dating back to the turn of the 1st and 2nd millennia. The oval-shaped site, stretching southwest to northeast, measures 27x25 meters and gently slopes to the west. It is covered by mixed forest, adding a special natural beauty and tranquility to the area.
Archaeological finds, such as clay plaster remnants and burned stones, indicate the ancient life and culture of the hillfort. Interestingly, the western part of the hillfort has been affected by erosion from the Mera River, and the site hosted Old Believers' cemeteries in the 19th and 20th centuries, further enhancing its historical significance.
This site is an excellent destination for both history enthusiasts and nature lovers who wish to experience the unique blend of Lithuanian culture and nature.
