This ancient hillfort, situated on the western shore of Lake Mergežeris, showcases an impressive synergy of geographical position and historical significance. It is strategically placed on an elongated hill, with a rectangular platform oriented north-south, measuring 66 meters in length and 10 meters in width at its highest point.
Historical sources reveal that this platform was fortified with ramparts and ditches, which today are partially eroded and disturbed due to agricultural activities. The hillfort is not only an archaeological
site but also a natural cultural heritage relic, covered by a sparse mixed forest that adds to the uniqueness and beauty of the location. In the southeastern foothills of the hillfort, occupying an area of 0.5 hectares, lie the remnants of an ancient settlement, evidencing long-term human presence in this region.
This historical site is undoubtedly an important object for both archaeologists and local residents and visitors, offering an opportunity to delve into the past of this area and appreciate its natural beauty.
