The Cathedral Basilica of St. Stanislaus and St. Ladislaus of Vilnius is a symbol of Christianity in Lithuania, located in the historic heart of the city. Built on the site of a former pagan temple, it bears witness to the most significant and dramatic moments in Lithuanian history. The relics of St. Casimir rest within this sacred site, and in 1993, Pope John Paul II began his pilgrimage across Lithuania with a prayer here.

The cathedral has been reconstructed numerous times, with its current Neoclassical design attributed to Laurynas Stuoka-Gucevičius. Traces of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles are still evident in its walls. Adjacent to the cathedral stands a 57-meter-high bell tower, one of the city's most iconic symbols.

The Cathedral Basilica of St. Stanislaus and St. Ladislaus of Vilnius is a symbol of Lithuanian Christianity and history, situated in the heart of the city on the site of a former pagan temple. This sacred place has witnessed pivotal moments in Lithuanian history and today represents the nation's enduring faith. The relics of St. Casimir, the patron saint of Lithuania and youth, are preserved here, with a magnificent chapel dedicated to his honor. From 1918 to 1925, Blessed Jurgis Matulaitis served as bishop here, and on September 4, 1993, Pope John Paul II began his historic journey across Lithuania with a visit to this cathedral. The cathedral has undergone numerous reconstructions due to fires, wars, and unstable ground. Its current Neoclassical appearance was designed
by the renowned architect Laurynas Stuoka-Gucevičius, though elements of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles remain embedded in its structure. Next to the cathedral stands a 57-meter-tall bell tower with its own unique history. Once a defensive tower, it was converted into a belfry in the 16th century and attained its current form in the early 19th century. The tower now features an interactive exhibit detailing its history, and visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Vilnius from the top. The oldest clock in the city marks time here, and the bells' chimes call the faithful to Mass. The Cathedral of Vilnius is not only an architectural masterpiece but also a living sanctuary of history and faith, embodying the national spirit of Lithuania.
