The Juškaičiai Hillfort, also known as Pilutės Hill, is located in the Tauragė district, in the Juškaičiai village. This historical monument was an important defensive site and settlement for the Karšuva region. The hillfort features an oval-shaped platform and remnants of its ramparts, with the northern corner having been quarried for gravel. The hillfort was constructed at the beginning of the second millennium, and it is believed that a wooden castle may have once stood there. The hill is tree-free, offering beautiful panoramic views. At the foot of the hill, an ancient settlement has been found, and about 450 meters to the northeast lies the Pabambių cemetery. The hill’s shape resembles a giant tomb or a coffin, and ancient pottery shards and fragments of metal artifacts discovered nearby attest to the historical significance of this site.

The Juškaičiai Hillfort, also known as Pilutės Hill, is an important historical and archaeological monument located in the Tauragė district, Juškaičiai village, within the Skaudvilė municipality. This place has an intriguing history tied to the local nobleman Stanislovas Juškevičius, mentioned in the Karšuva parish inventory. The village took its name from his surname, becoming known as Juškaičiai. The hillfort is situated on a separate hill, with an oval-shaped, elongated platform. There was a rampart at the southern end, but today only a small mound remains. The northern corner has been quarried for gravel, but the hill's shape still stands impressively, reflecting the significance of the site. The hillfort was used both as a settlement and a defensive
structure. It is believed that a wooden castle was built on the hill at the beginning of the second millennium. The Juškaičiai Hillfort is not covered by trees, offering excellent views of the surrounding landscape and opportunities for hiking and enjoying nature. At the foot of the hill are the remains of an ancient settlement, and about 450 meters to the northeast lies the Pabambių cemetery. The appearance of the Juškaičiai Hillfort is striking, resembling a huge tomb or coffin. It is said that various archaeological finds, such as large rings, ancient pottery shards with markings, and fragments of metal artifacts, have been discovered around the hill. These findings further emphasize the historical and archaeological significance of this site.
