The metal arch bridge over the Šyša River, built in 1914, is an important technical and historical landmark in Šilutė. Designed by engineer Fabian, it connects the Šilutė–Rusnė road, which at the time was the only land route to Rusnė Island. This engineering marvel was funded by the state and represents early 20th-century bridge construction technologies.

The bridge is 40 meters long, 5 meters wide, and 3.5 meters high. Its yellow-painted arches, stone foundations, and pedestrian pathways give it a distinctive charm. It is not only a vital transport artery but also an urban heritage monument in Šilutė’s old town, attracting tourists and history enthusiasts alike.

Constructed in 1914, the metal arch bridge became a significant object of technical and historical heritage in the Šilutė region. Designed by engineer Fabian, it connects the Šilutė–Rusnė road, which was the only land connection to Rusnė Island at the time. The bridge's construction was prompted by the development of a small harbor project in Šilokarčema (modern-day Šilutė). This early 20th-century engineering feat greatly influenced regional connectivity, linking the emerging town of Šilutė, formed from several villages, with the strategically important Rusnė Island. Built with state funds, the bridge reflects advancements
in bridge-building technologies of the time and the architectural trends of the Klaipėda region. Its stone foundations and supports, combined with the steel arch, demonstrate both durability and aesthetic design. The bridge measures 40 meters in length, 5 meters in width, and 3.5 meters in height. On both sides, it features pedestrian pathways with 1-meter-high railings. Over the decades, its arches have been painted yellow, giving the bridge a distinctive appearance. This unique bridge stands as an urban heritage monument in Šilutė’s old town and a valuable piece of technical heritage, drawing tourists and history lovers alike.
