Kaupiškiai Hillfort, situated atop a large hill, is a remarkable historical and natural site in the Vilkaviškis district. The hillfort rises 16 meters high, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. Settlements were discovered at its southwestern and northern bases, where coarse and smooth pottery fragments were found, suggesting ties to Baltic tribes.
In September 2011, a ceremonial fire was lit on the hillfort to commemorate Baltic Unity Day. A stone altar was created on the site to preserve its surface. This tradition brings together locals and neighbors from Šakiai and Marijampolė each year, symbolizing the connection between history and community.
