Holocaust Site in Vištytis

On July 14, 1941, near Vištytis on Ilgasis Hill, approximately 70 Jewish men and Soviet activists were executed. Later, on September 9, 1941, around 150 Jewish women and children were killed in a nearby ravine. Following these tragic events, the memory of the Holocaust victims was honored. In 1964, their remains were relocated to a burial site near the windmill, and between 1977 and 1979, the cemetery underwent reconstruction.
