Count Tiškevičius Bridge

Over 100 years ago, Kretinga could be divided into two parts – the monastery and the manor territories. These areas were symbolically and practically connected by a bridge built in 1882, funded by the Tiškevičiai family. The bridge not only improved the communication between the manor and the town but also became an important part of daily life – the Tiškevičiai family would cross it to attend church.

The bridge spans the Dopulčiai stream, which flows towards the Akmena River, and its ancient stone structure is clearly visible when visiting the nearby Kretinga Lourdes. Today, the bridge still serves both pedestrians and drivers traveling along the renovated Vilniaus Street. Recently, the bridge was named after Józef Tiškevičius, honoring the count and his contribution to the history of Kretinga.
