Memorial Monument Honoring the Vendelis Family Freedom Fighters

In the Old Cemetery of Kretinga (Vilniaus St. 19A), a gravestone monument stands in memory of the Žemaičiai Military District "Kardas" Unit partisans — Benediktas Vendelis (1931–2006), a political prisoner and a fighter of the Laisvūnas Squad, and his sister Bronė Vendelytė (1930–1951), a Vygimantas Squad partisan who died near the Reiskiai Tyras Swamp. This monument symbolizes the Vendelis family's sacrifice in the fight for Lithuania's freedom.
Bronė Vendelytė tragically lost her life in battle, while Benediktas Vendelis, after surviving exile, returned to Lithuania, carrying the memory of the struggles and exile throughout his life.
