To experience the interwar spirit in Kretinga, it is worth visiting the former Lithuanian National Bank building, located near the Catholic Church. Built in 1940 on a plot purchased from the Franciscan monastery, this building is the only remaining witness of banking history from that era in the city.
A modern structure in the style of functionalism and neoclassicism, the building was once a symbol of progress. In its spacious rooms, visitors were greeted by a hall, and securely designed vaults were used to store money. The bank manager lived on the second floor of the building. The main decorative feature of the building is the triptych by Petras Kalpokas, "Lithuanian Industrial Village Landscape," "Morning," and "Fisherman," which still preserves the interwar atmosphere.
