The Kretinga cemetery, which operated from the 16th to the 18th century, is still preserved by unique landmarks. In the central part of the cemetery stands a wooden chapel, serving as a reminder of those buried here and the symbols of their faith. By the Akmena River, visitors are greeted by the sculpture of the Trumpeting Angel, created in 2003 by folk artist Adolfas Viluckis. This impressive monument commemorates the first Kretinga church, built in 1602 in this cemetery, which became an important center of faith and culture.
