In Kretinga Cemetery, located in Padvariai Village on Darbėnai Road, stands a gravestone monument dedicated to Ona Šalnienė (1901–1976), mother of partisan Kazimieras Šalnius and a Siberian exile.
Ona Šalnienė, a resident of Genčiai Village, spent 1948–1957 in exile due to her son Kazimieras Šalnius’ resistance activities. Kazimieras, a member of the Kardo Unit staff in the Žemaičiai District, perished in 1948 while fighting for Lithuania's freedom. This memorial marker symbolizes not only a mother's sacrifice but also the tragic consequences of the struggle for independence.
