In Sakuočiai Village, a memorial composition commemorates the members of the Kardo Unit staff—Kazys Kontrimas, Juozas Kėkštas, Stasys Jonauskas, and Antanas Savickas—who operated from Povilas Vaičekauskas’ homestead between 1946 and 1948. The monument was unveiled on June 16, 2012, through the initiative of Bronislovas Vaičekauskas, a liaison for the Bugantas Company partisans and a political prisoner.
This site stands as a testament to the Lithuanian partisans’ fight for freedom and their courage in defending the country’s independence. The composition not only honors their sacrifice but also highlights their significance in Lithuania’s history.
