The Mikalojus Katkus Museum, located in the Kėdainiai district, offers an opportunity to explore the life and work of this distinguished figure. Established in 1965, the museum showcases the legacy of the author of Balanos Gadynė, a folk educator, an activist of the Aušra movement, a clandestine teacher (daraktorius), and Lithuania's first certified agronomist. The exhibits also reveal the everyday rural life of the early 20th century, providing visitors with an authentic sense of the past.

J. Tumas-Vaižgantas compared Balanos Gadynė to the works of K. Donelaitis and A. Juška’s Svodbinė Rėda, emphasizing its exceptional value as a detailed depiction of the era. In Ažytėnai, M. Katkus taught village children to read and write, significantly contributing to rural education. Visitors are encouraged to arrange their visit in advance.
