This hillfort is situated atop a prominent hill on the Lithuanian-Latvian border. The oval-shaped platform measures 26×13 meters, with a 2-meter-wide terrace located on the northwestern slope, 2 meters below the platform. The steep slopes rise up to 35 meters, with the upper 2 meters artificially built. The hillfort is covered with forest, but the border line is clearly visible. The hillfort is also known as Kartuvių Kalnas (Gallows Hill) in Lithuania and as Petruki or Petriki in Latvia. On the platform stands border marker No. 1251, with only 6 meters of the northeastern edge of the platform and the southern and eastern slopes belonging to Lithuania. In 1937, an ancient stone axe was found at the foot of the hill on the Latvian side. The site is dated to the late 1st millennium BCE to the early 1st millennium CE. This is a significant archaeological site and an intriguing destination for history enthusiasts and visitors interested in cultural heritage.
