In the village of Paparčiai, Barstyčiai eldership, Skuodo district, the Paparčiai Oak stands as a natural heritage object. The circumference of its trunk at 1.3 meters height measures 4.17 meters. In 2019, this oak was recognized as a protected natural heritage monument by the Skuodo district municipality. The tree is famous for a legend about a tragic love story. It is said that a farmer's daughter was loved by two young men. One of them, in an attempt to eliminate his rival, orchestrated a deceit behind the oak, murdered the competitor, and married the girl. Despite the cruelty, he escaped punishment, and the couple lived a long and happy life. This tree is not only a natural wonder but also a part of local history, attracting visitors.
