I. Navidanskas Park is one of the unique botanical parks in Lithuania, located in Kalnėnai village, Skuodas district. Its founder, Izidorius Navidanskas, began planting trees in 1928 at just sixteen years old, secretly planting the first trees: four birches, a chestnut, lindens, and thuja. Through his efforts, the park eventually became a true diversity of plants. Today, it houses 34 native and 95 introduced plant species, among which visitors will find various types of maples, oaks, ashes, birches, elms, as well as rare rowan and mountain ash trees. The avenues lined with walnut trees, scarlet oaks, Kentucky coffee trees, and other exotic plants are
particularly delightful.
The park has become not only a botanical haven but also a relaxation oasis. Seven ponds are home to various birds and fish, with recreational areas and commercial fishing services available. Visitors can enjoy scenic avenues, water bodies, and the beauty of natural surroundings. An important aspect of the park's history is its establishment as a botanical park, which has been state-protected since 1958 and designated as a site of national significance since 1986. It is the first botanical park in Lithuania, reflecting Izidorius Navidanskas's love for nature and his relentless effort to nurture both local and exotic flora.
